45 MPH - 45 minutes of Music, Prayer, and Hope

Our prayer is that the worship experience will be more than just a one night stand. We hope it will invoke new insights, questions, thoughts, reflections, ideas, etc., and open your heart and mind to God throughout the week.

This page was designed to give you a flavor of our evening worship service.  Initially, we thought we would be able to update it every week, but alas, we weren't able to do this on a regular basis.  So, please consider these entries as samples of what happens on a Sunday night!

You are welcome to add your reflections and thoughts in a blog format.

And remember, you are always welcome to share your thoughts, struggles, experiences, reflections, etc., during the next worship experience.

6/28/2010 - Jonah.  We continued our Christian Education Sunday theme from the morning into the evening by watching a portion of the Veggie Tales "Jonah".  Lettuce give you a pea-ce our discussion that followed this corn-y video!  Veggie Tales seeks to bring the scripture stories to life through a rather unorthodox manner by using vegetables as the main characters.  One can wonder if this is sacreligious or if it follows Jesus' manner of teaching by using contemporary themes and teaching methods that were familiar to the people (oral story telling).  Do movies like "Jonah" help children (and adult) connect to God and the scriptures?

Looking purely at the story of Jonah - aren't we all a little like Jonah?  Haven't we all wanted to see someone get what they deserve because they just aren't very nice?  Of course, because we're nice most of the time, we think that God thinks the way we do.  Luckily, God is way more merciful and forgiving than us - if not, we'd be in hot water ourselves!
