45 MPH - 45 minutes of Music, Prayer, and Hope

Our prayer is that the worship experience will be more than just a one night stand. We hope it will invoke new insights, questions, thoughts, reflections, ideas, etc., and open your heart and mind to God throughout the week.

This page was designed to give you a flavor of our evening worship service.  Initially, we thought we would be able to update it every week, but alas, we weren't able to do this on a regular basis.  So, please consider these entries as samples of what happens on a Sunday night!

You are welcome to add your reflections and thoughts in a blog format.

And remember, you are always welcome to share your thoughts, struggles, experiences, reflections, etc., during the next worship experience.

Addictions - 8/2/2009  What addictions plague you?  What is an addiction?  How do you overcome your addictions?  This evening we watched three movie clips from Wing Clips.com :

UP (snipe trap)  - food addiction:  "Russell clearly has an addiction to chocolate. Even though he knows there is a trap around his
substance of choice, he ventures into the trap anyway. When Carl tries to keep Russell from
another misstep, Carl pays a price. When you are in relationship with someone who has an
addiction, their mess can easily spill over into your life. Often as you reach out to save them, you
end up paying a price that doesn’t seem fair. Helping someone overcome addiction is a heroic journey, but not an easy one. Traps are springing all around the addicted person and
occasionally, the one who cares about them, gets stuck too."  (from Wing Clips.com)

Tweaked (alone) - drug addiction:  This clip consisted of young people talking about their drug addictions and their reasons for taking drugs (to make them happy, to keep from feeling alone).

Narnia (Turkish Delight) - food and power addiction:  "As if life isn’t hard enough, God warns us that we face an Adversary who is
powerful, organized, able to deceive us by appearing good, and intent upon our destruction. God
also tells us how to recognize the Adversary’s schemes and how to resist and fight against them.
Our primary lifelong weapon against the Adversary is the development of a Christ-like
character—as those inner core values will always sniff out the enemy’s temptations.
In this clip we see the enemy, fully aware of the prophecy that four human children will destroy her
realm, deceive Edmund by quickly realizing his weakness and playing to it. Edmund, the middle
child and younger brother to Peter, hates being told what to do. His rebellion has separated him
from the safety of his community, and now it allows him to entertain the temptation planted in his
mind."(from Wing Clips.com)
