45 MPH - 45 minutes of Music, Prayer, and Hope

Our prayer is that the worship experience will be more than just a one night stand. We hope it will invoke new insights, questions, thoughts, reflections, ideas, etc., and open your heart and mind to God throughout the week.

This page was designed to give you a flavor of our evening worship service.  Initially, we thought we would be able to update it every week, but alas, we weren't able to do this on a regular basis.  So, please consider these entries as samples of what happens on a Sunday night!

You are welcome to add your reflections and thoughts in a blog format.

And remember, you are always welcome to share your thoughts, struggles, experiences, reflections, etc., during the next worship experience.

Burdens Part II - 4/26/2009

Did you bring your burdens with you to our evening gathering?  Of course you did!  Are you ready to relinquish them to God?  Well...maybe....

We hope that you feel free to worship God in ways that are meaningful to you - to sing if you wish or just to listen, to stand, sit, kneel if the Spirit moves you to worship.  Feel free to interject - if God is speaking to you, there may be others who also need to hear the question, comment, words of hope.  Make this a meaningful worship experience for you.

This evening, the skit "Burden Overtakers" spoke about how many people feel tired and overburdened.  Wouldn't it be nice to have someone take over all your burdens?  But is that what God wants us to do?  To focus only on our wants and needs?  How do we strike a balance?  Perhaps the answer comes in Matthew 11:28-30.  Tackle these burdens with God.  Take some time to meditate on the scriptures from four different translations:

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.  -King James

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.“     - NIV

"Come to me, all of you who are tired and are carrying heavy loads. I will give you rest. Become my servants and learn from me. I am gentle and free of pride. You will find rest for your souls. Serving me is easy, and my load is light.“           - NIRV

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.“         - the message

This is an excellent way for us to share burdens and reflect on worship, scripture and how God is callling us to deeper faithfulness and action. May God bless you and others joining in this effort!
