45 MPH - 45 minutes of Music, Prayer, and Hope
Our prayer is that the worship experience will be more than just a one night stand. We hope it will invoke new insights, questions, thoughts, reflections, ideas, etc., and open your heart and mind to God throughout the week.
This page was designed to give you a flavor of our evening worship service. Initially, we thought we would be able to update it every week, but alas, we weren't able to do this on a regular basis. So, please consider these entries as samples of what happens on a Sunday night!
You are welcome to add your reflections and thoughts in a blog format.
And remember, you are always welcome to share your thoughts, struggles, experiences, reflections, etc., during the next worship experience.

| Greetings! Below is a sample of some of our Sunday night worship experiences. Although we had hoped to blog an entry each week, we found that we just weren't getting it done in a timely fashion, but still thought that it might be helpful to keep on the website for those who might want a taste of what goes on!
You can use this blog to share your reflections or questions, to share something that happened to you during the week, or just to check out what you missed. You can also use the blog to share your prayer requests. You are welcome to join us any Sunday evening! |

It is a thought provoking and powerful video.

Faith Like Potatoes - 8/9/2009 If you haven't seen this movie, you should grab some friends, some popcorn and rent the DVD.
Plot Outline: Faith Like Potatoes tells the incredible true story of a farmer, Angus Buchan, who leaves his farm and travels south with his family to start a better life in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Faced with ever mounting challenges, hardships and personal turmoil, Angus quickly spirals down into a life consumed by anger, fear and destruction. Angus soon gives his life to God and starts the journey of a man who, like his potatoes, grows his faith, unseen until the harvest.

Addictions - 8/2/2009 What addictions plague you? What is an addiction? How do you overcome your addictions? This evening we watched three movie clips from Wing Clips.com :
UP (snipe trap) - food addiction: "Russell clearly has an addiction to chocolate. Even though he knows there is a trap around his
substance of choice, he ventures into the trap anyway. When Carl tries to keep Russell from
another misstep, Carl pays a price. When you are in relationship with someone who has an
addiction, their mess can easily spill over into your life. Often as you reach out to save them, you
end up paying a price that doesn’t seem fair. Helping someone overcome addiction is a heroic journey, but not an easy o

Celebrating Our Interdependence - 7/5/2009 No, that isn't a typo - instead of "Independence", it says "Interdependence." In the Peanuts video clip, Linus asks Charlie Brown, "What is Independence?" He replies "To be free from influence or control of others."
As Christians, we are called to be in community which means requires that interdependence on one another. Like it or not, we influence one another. And we are called to be totally dependent on God! Certainly our prayers should be for God to influence our daily lives and actions.
As we come to the end of this 4th of July weekend, may we remember the following scripture:

Speaking - 6/21/2009 Speaking to God...Speaking about God...Speaking for God.
Praying...Testifying...Prophesizing...
Take time to talk to and with God whenever, wherever, and however. In our church tradition, we tend to close our eyes, clasp our hands, and generally allow the pastor to be the one to voice the prayers. Shake up your prayer life a bit - open your eyes, raise your hands, give shouts of praise!
What stories can you share about God? Share them! Don't keep them to yourself.
Is God asking you to speak? Have you been given a vision to share? Has God placed a burden on your heart that is aching to be shared with others. Have the courage to speak!

Listening - 6/14/09 Even in today's noisy, busy world, God is still speaking. The question is, are we listening? There are so many things to distract us - cell phones, iPods, television, conversations, etc. Silence bothers many of us. How can God get through to us?
As a way of seeking to listen to God, we practiced Lecto Divina - using scripture to open us to hearing God's word for us. First, we read through a selection of scripture and then meditated on a word or phrase that touched our hearts or caught our attention. Then we re-read the same scripture with a focus on meditating how the word or phrase connected with our lives. A final reading had us meditating on what the scripture was calling us to do in the week to come.
Listen. Can you hear God speaking to you?
