45 MPH - 45 minutes of Music, Prayer, and Hope
Our prayer is that the worship experience will be more than just a one night stand. We hope it will invoke new insights, questions, thoughts, reflections, ideas, etc., and open your heart and mind to God throughout the week.
This page was designed to give you a flavor of our evening worship service. Initially, we thought we would be able to update it every week, but alas, we weren't able to do this on a regular basis. So, please consider these entries as samples of what happens on a Sunday night!
You are welcome to add your reflections and thoughts in a blog format.
And remember, you are always welcome to share your thoughts, struggles, experiences, reflections, etc., during the next worship experience.

| Greetings! Below is a sample of some of our Sunday night worship experiences. Although we had hoped to blog an entry each week, we found that we just weren't getting it done in a timely fashion, but still thought that it might be helpful to keep on the website for those who might want a taste of what goes on!
You can use this blog to share your reflections or questions, to share something that happened to you during the week, or just to check out what you missed. You can also use the blog to share your prayer requests. You are welcome to join us any Sunday evening! |

9/19/2008 - Is God for Real? Is God real or a figment of our imagination??? There literally are hundreds of arguments that speak for and against the existence of God. What do you think? If you were at the service or are reading this, you probably believe that God exists - which then begs the question, "But why??"

9/12/2008 - Reality 24/7 - Reality Shows...we all watch them (probably more than we'd like to admit. There are literally hundreds of shows on television each week. So what's the attraction? Why do we find them so fascinating? And are they really depicting reality? What about Christian Reality Shows?

9/5/08 - "Remember Me?" A time to reflect on the significance of communion which is more than just bread and wine (well, grape juice in our case!). We all need, like, and want to be remembered. Nothing is more tragic than a family member who can no longer remember his or her family members. Jesus shared the Passover meal with his disciples and asked them to "Remember me." So when we share communion, we gather to remember him...

8/29/08 - "More than Bread!" It was an evening of asking God to lead us in song, scriptures, and sharing - and responding. Life is more than living and working hard in order to feed ourselves bread (or meat, or beer, or vegetables, etc.)

8/22/08 "Living Up to Our Names" The story of Simon Peter is a perfect example of someone who received a name that was initially bigger than he was! When Jesus met Simon, he did an unusual thing of immediately giving Simon the "nickname" of Peter - A Rock. Now Simon, who was a big fisherman, probably felt the name was appropriate because of his size and strength, but he was also known as being impulsive and a bit of a hot-head - not quite the steady rock need for the foundation of God's church.

08/08/08 - "What's in a Name?" This evening, the focus was on names! How we get names (we watched a clip from "Brother Bear" where Kenai receives his totem name), our own names (do we like them, the stories behind them, nicknames, etc.), and the negative names we are sometimes called or adopt ourselves (Loser, Ugly, No-Good). These negative names can have a powerfully negative effect on our lives. To counteract that, we need to...

8/1/2008 - Embodied Worship: Trusting God with Our Burdens. Our
worship experience this week was based on the scriptures I Peter 5:7-11
and Matthew 11:28-30 which encouraged us to give our burdens to God and
to help others with their burdens. We were invited to write our
burdens on pieces of paper and tie them with ribbons before placing
them in a basket - a symbolic way

7/25/2008 Experiencing the Sacred through the Ordinary - Making the God Connection -
This week's theme focused on our need to connect with God - and God's
desire to be connected with us. Prayer is a major way for us to
connect with God - even Jesus made sure that he spent time in prayer.
I Thessalonian 5:17 calls us to pray at all times - 24/7 ! The early
Celtics focused prayer more on daily activities vs. a particular tim

Experiencing the Sacred in Ordinary - Is That You, God? Most of us are constantly bombarded
with sounds, messages, demands of our jobs/families, etc. that we don't even recognize God's presence. We need to make a conscious effort to keep our eyes and hearts open to God' presence in the ordinary places of our lives. Scriptures included God's calling of Samuel who mistakes God
for Eli and Mary who mistakes Jesus for the gardener. If you are interested in the
guided mediation experienced during the worship ser ...
